Completion
of a project to construct a raised-panel door.
Skills and knowledge to be gained:

The mechanics and techniques of raised-panel door
construction.

Use of the Summerfield raised-panel router bit set.
·
Appropriate use of table saw, jointer, planer and
router table.
Machines and tools to be used:
Any of the tools and machines that were introduced during the workshop certification
course may be employed. These could include the jointer, planer, table saw,
cut-off saw, sanders and drill press. However, additional use of the table
router and suitable bits appropriate to the chosen project will be introduced.
Learning process/procedure:
The learning process will be by demonstration from the instructor. When
students are ready at a later stage to construct their own raised-panel doors
assistance will be available to guide and remind them of the various points
shown.
Prerequisite skills; what level of
competency/expertise is required for safe, successful participation:
Participants must be proficient in the safe use of the table saw, jointer
and planer prior to taking this class. Basic gluing-up techniques are also
desired as these are needed to build up the finished item. Demonstration and
assistance will be available throughout to ensure that students acquire the
most from their experiences.
Project/product to be made:
This is a
demonstration course only and as such no actual finished project will be made
other than that used by the instructor.
Duration of course:
Usually
three hours by prior arrangement with the instructor.
Cost of materials beyond the basic $10 fee:
There will
be no additional charge to cover the materials used during the course.
