Title: Basic Drill Press Operation

Skills and knowledge to be gained. Fundamental understanding of the drill press
and how to use it to safely perform various drilling and boring operations.

Learning process/procedure. Participants
will be given an overview of the drill press through explanations of its
various parts and demonstrations of how it can be used safely. Participants
will perform hands-on operations to get experience in these operations, as well
as learning how to choose, install and set various drill bits to perform a
number of operations. Participants will learn how to use a variety of jigs and
fences to make the use of this machine safer and more versatile. Participants will learn how to set up the
fences to safely and accurately drill into the ends, faces and edges of stock
and how to make repetitive holes in horizontal stock. Participants will learn how to choose the
correct speed for a particular operation and how to set that speed.

is a tool-use training course.
