Course Title: Advanced Table Saw Course

Course Description:

·        Skills and knowledge to be gained:  Advanced skills and experience in using the table saw to conduct specialty operations such as dados, rabbits, lap joints, box joints, tenons, compound cuts, tapers, raised panels, and multiple repetitive cuts.

·        Machines and tools to be used: Table saw, miter gauge and rip fence and a variety of jigs specifically designed for the table saw.

·        Learning process/procedure:  Instructors will demonstrate the set up and use of the saw parts and controls for the various operations as well as the use of the specialty jigs. Participants will then conduct these operations themselves.

·        Prerequisite skills:  Successful completion of the Introduction to the Table Saw Course and/or a demonstrated level of skill and experience equivalent to several years of experience in operating a table saw.  In the interest of safety, the Woodshop reserves the right to ask a participant to withdraw from the course if the instructor feels the participant does not have a sufficient level of skill and experience.  Should this occur, a refund of the course fee will be given.

·        Project/product to be made:  None – this is a tool-use training course.

·        Duration of course:  Three to four sessions of 2-3 hours.
