Course Title: Build Your Own Project                                  

Course Number: 502

Instructor: Greg Werner

 

Course Description:

·        Skills and knowledge to be gained; how to:

o       Make/choose project drawings.

o       Select appropriate materials for the project chosen.

o       Make a list of the hardware and supplies needed.

o       Decide which tools and machines to use in project fabrication.

o       Determine layout, cut/forming, and assembly order.

o       Cut/form appropriate joints.

o       Assemble project

o       Consider finishing materials and processes—projects actually finished by alternative means.

·        Machines and tools to be used. Any of the tools and machines studied through the certification process may be employed.  These may include the jointer, planer, table saw, cut-off saw, sanders, drill press and other machines when appropriate.

·        Learning process/procedure. In this course, participants will select a project of their choice and proceed to develop and implement a plan for making it in an efficient and safe manner.

·        Prerequisite skills; what level of competency/expertise is required for safe, successful participation. Beginner with some experience and confidence around machines.

·        Project/product to be made. Personal choice.

 

·        Duration of course. Adjusted for project selected.

 

·        Cost of materials beyond $10 fee. To be determined.
