COURSE DESCRIPTION

 

Course Title:  Raised-Panel Doors

Course Number: 602

Instructor:           Charley Campney

 

Course Description:

·        Skills and knowledge to be gained.  Mechanics and techniques of raised-panel door construction using the Summerfield raised-panel router bit set.   Working from basic dimension lumber provided, participants will use the router table to cope rails and cut rails and stiles.

 

·        Machines and tools to be used. Table saw, jointer, planer and router table.

 

·        Learning process/procedure. The class will be demonstration only.  When students are ready for their own project, I will work with them individually.

 

·        Prerequisite skills; what level of competency/expertise is required for safe, successful participation. Participants must be proficient in the safe use of the table saw, jointer and planer, as these tools will be needed to properly prepare the stock.  Basic glue-up techniques are also needed to build the door panels.

 

·        Project/product to be made.  Raised-panel doors.

 

·        Duration of course. Three hours.

 

·        Cost of materials beyond $10 fee. None—scrap wood will be used for the class instruction.
