I wanted to pass along a possible tip. Recently I was looking for something at Lowe’s online and I discovered that they have an excellent newsletter subscription service. There was a plan for building a folding wine counter, which I printed out and may be attempting to build in coming weeks. The plans are complete, including building instructions, cut list and project diagram. Go to www.lowes.com and you will find a place to create an account and to sign up for the emails. There are several other topics you can subscribe to also - such as gardening and updates on new equipment, etc.

I am designing an entertainment center and I recently asked if anyone at the Woodworking shop knew of a good and inexpensive 3d drawing software. No one responded so I continued searching the internet. There are a number of programs such as AutoCAD that would be useful, but I'm not willing to spend thousands. I came across Google's Sketchup 7. It's relatively easy to use (they have video tutorials) and it's free. I've used CAD software in my job and I can't believe something so functional in the solid modeling world could be free. It works with my Windows 7 too.
